1981 Harley Davidson FXE build
Current spare time project
Current work-in-progress...
No such thing as a cheap harley. I have wanted to do a shovelhead build for a while, I sold my evo tourglide at the start of the summer and tried to find a shovel I could ride for the summer for the money. That didn't last long!
Chipped pushrod ends circulated shrapnel in the oil, taking out many of the bearings along the way (this alongside the general wear and tear of 43 years). I'm now commencing a major engine rebuild before the season has even finished.
Though it pains me not to be able to finish the season, I'm excited to be getting stuck into something new. There's a wealth of knowledge on these old bikes that's starting to disappear and I'm trying to grab on to some of it before it does.
Currently putting together replacement parts and figuring out exactly what machine work needs doing, stay tuned...
